Dance for Life: Life's a gift. Let's celebrate!
After six years, Bridgehaven is shaking things up and asking you to shake it up with us! Every fall in recent memory, Bridgehaven has hosted a run/walk to support our ministry of helping families in all circumstances surrounding pregnancy. During the 2016 event, we were simply celebrating the fact that while Cedar Rapids did experience some minor flooding, there was no damage to either the center or to Treasures, our quality resale shoppe. We walked at the Coe College track because the route was still underwater in places. Last year, we were able to walk from the center to Treasures “In Her Shoes” to raise funds for our work with families in the Cedar Rapids area. This year, we wanted to be different. We wanted to be fun. We wanted something all ages could do to celebrate the many wonderful things happening at Bridgehaven. Our committee thought long and hard about what we could do……and the joy we find in working with young families can only be expressed through dance!
Worried that you can’t participate because you will embarrass your children? Has your spouse told you that maybe dancing is something you should only do in private? Well, don’t worry! We have totally got you covered because the theme of our event is: Bad dancing saves lives. That’s right! You do not have to dance like Fred and Ginger. You don’t have to know Kiki and it doesn’t matter if she loves you or not. You only need a joyous spirit and to join a team and be with us on Saturday, September 29th as we Dance for Life.
The dance will work in the exact same way the walk did as far as peer-to-peer fundraising. You simply sign up by clicking here, create your page, and explain why you are raising funds for Bridgehaven and then promote the event to your friends and family. Facebook is an easy way to let your friends know you are raising funds to help families in our area and you will be well on your way to earning an exclusive t-shirt.
Our event will feature all types of dance, including: ballroom with instruction, line dancing, modern music, and even polka! Bring your kiddos, bring your grandma…..there will be music for all ages. We will also be hosting local church groups selling food and other items to support not only Bridgehaven but their own projects, as well.
We welcome all of you to join us on Saturday, September 29th to celebrate life. Sign up today, ask your friends and family to sponsor your participation and change the future. We are so honored to have the support of amazing people like you, even if you aren’t likely to be the next contestants on Dancing with the Stars. Bad dancing saves lives, friends. Won’t you join us?
