Earn While You Learn: Class Update

Our Earn While You Learn class topics and desires continue to be focused on empowering families with truth, knowledge, emotional and spiritual support that point to the love and knowledge of Jesus. Our four foundational areas of growth are: parenting and family classes, relationship building, life skills and spiritual growth. How encouraging and rewarding that we are able to offer clients support that enrich and transform their lives!

Our exciting and abundant fall class line-up include several first-time classes along with classes that have been a part of the EWYL legacy for many seasons. Let me share with you…

Prenatal: Covers the entire length and development of pregnancy, labor, delivery, birth, breast/ formula feeding.

Baby Basics: Baby Basics teaches parents what to expect during their baby’s first 12 months of life: bonding, when to introduce foods, teething, physical and social developments, infant massage, sign language, safe ride and safe sleep practices, and swaddling.

“I found the class quite comforting and I learned a lot of knowledge. The instructor gave a lot of pointers that I didn’t learn from the hospital. In class we went over swaddling a few times, I learned what worked for some and what didn’t work for others. It is nice to be around people of a similar life stage; just having a baby or being pregnant. There is anxiety around having a baby and the class helps reduce that. The class is also helping me branch out in the community by building friendships with classmates. I come nervous but leave with a sound mind, heart, and body. The class has helped me build my own confidence.”- Current client

IPAK (Influential Parents Accountable Kids): Based on the Love and Logic parenting approach. Love and Logic is a process by which children grow through their mistakes and learn from the consequences of their choices. There are 2 basic rules in Love & Logic: Adults set firm limits in loving ways without anger, lecture, threats or repeated warnings. And set limits using enforceable statements, regard mistakes as learning opportunities, and resist the temptation to nag.

“Our last class was on communication; that information is helpful even outside of the family. It’s not the first time I’ve taken this class, every time I take it, I learn more. It helps me cope with family issues.” – Current client

Toddler and Preschool Years: Covers safety, reading, nutrition, potty training, preparing for preschool, fun activities to do with your toddler, discipline and tantrums, language development.

12 Women of the Bible: Study on spiritual lessons learned from twelve biblical women and their implications in life today.

  • Apply biblical lessons to their own modern-day struggles
  • Live through their failures as well as successes
  • Draw near to God in a world filled with trials
  • Find lasting contentment
  • Overcome rejection and insecurity

James & John: Covering the books of James & John, chapter by chapter, along with discussion of life and biblical application.

Dare to Discipline: This class is designed to help you lead your children through the tough job of growing up. This practical, reassuring class will teach you how to meet your children’s needs of love, trust, affection—and discipline.

“I love the classes, they are a great support system. We pray and update each other on what is going on. We jump into our sessions which are very nice. The class is good for all different ages, I’m the youngest in the class and am learning from others. It is good information to know.” – Current client

ESL: English as a second language for Hispanic clients – Learning the written and spoken English language. The first 30 minutes is focused on language development while the second 30 minutes is a bible study in Spanish.

Brave: Honest questions women ask – This class speaks to participants about deep feelings that all women have at one time or another. It takes a brave woman to ask these questions and dig into these topics alongside other believers. We’ve all got insecurities, flaws, and struggles that we’re afraid to address. But if we can be brave enough to raise the questions, God will answer us. You’ve got questions. God’s got answers. Be brave. Ask.

  • Why can’t I get it together?
  • Am I as invisible as I feel?
  • What am I so afraid of?

Living Above Stress and Worry: Clients come together and are refreshed with the Word of God in living a hope-filled and forward thinking class.

“This class is a safe place to share your feelings and struggles. The class is uplifting and comforting.” – Current client

Discipleship: This 1 on 2 class looks deeper into the Word with hunger and dependence. This class teaches practical biblical and life application; how to live a victorious and obedient life.

His Story: This topical study covers fundamental beliefs and practices of the Christian faith and provides biblical answers to life’s most important questions, including “Who is our God?” “How can we be saved?” “How shall we then live?” and many others. It is designed for believers at all stages of growth: to ground new believers in the faith as well as equip mature believers.

“I love my current class. It’s fantastic! Not having a very good connection with the Bible was something I was missing. I have been able to be part of five Bridgehaven classes prior to joining this study. It is important to know what the Lord says. It shapes our lives everyday. It’s important to be able to look up His Words and know where to look. I have found myself able to use the Bible as an awesome tool!” – Current client

Lies Women Believe: This class exposes those areas of deception most commonly believed by Christian women—lies about God, sin, priorities, marriage and family, emotions, and more. This book sheds light on how we can be delivered from bondage and set free to walk in God’s grace, forgiveness, and abundant life. Truth is not just something to know but something to live out in the laboratory of life as you apply the Word to real-life situations.

“The class is affecting me very positively, it gives me an opportunity to look back and see how my past has shaped me. Women have a lot in common, I see “myself” in the women we have talked about. To sum it up, it helps me see that I have come through a lot and have grown into a more powerful woman. I enjoy the women in the class with me.”- Current client

Conversational English: For international clients who desire to learn the written and spoken English language as well as learn customs, values, social situations, history and holidays.

Eat, pray, stretch: Clients perform gentle stretches on and off a chair to soul-filled music to gain greater flexibility, balance and connection with Christ. The instructor teaches breathing techniques to help clients gain a sense of calmness that can be used when facing challenging situations outside of class. The second half of the class will be devoted to discussing nutrition.

Heaven: Our Eternal Home – What comes to mind when you think of heaven? You will discover what really awaits you in heaven, it will radically change your view of your future and of heaven. This study reveals what our heavenly home will be like, what we’ll do there, what we’ll experience, and how we’re to prepare for eternity today.

“When I first came to Bridgehaven, I was broken, selfish and didn’t trust people. I felt like I wasn’t good enough. By God’s grace and the caring hearts of Karen and Cheryl my perspective of who I am changed my life. The people at Bridgehaven are a lifeline from pregnancy support to raising our children to be soldiers for the Lord. Words can’t express how grateful I am that God led me to people who genuinely care about my well-being. It feels so good to be surrounded by people who love and accept me as me.”- Current client

12 Pillars: This class is a professional and personal development class. The pillars include: Live a Life of Three-Dimensional Health. The Gift of Relationships. Achieving Your Goals and the Proper Use of Time. Surrounding Yourself with the Best People. Becoming a Life-Long Learner. Income Seldom Exceeds Personal Development. Communication Brings the Common Ground of Understanding. The World Can Always Use One More Great Leader. Leaving a Legacy.

It is our continued prayer that everyone involved in the Earn While You Learn program encounter Jesus as their Living God and Savior. Through that encounter, may they experience salvation, direction, and the fullness of God’s Word and Spirit!
